Lead Engineer
Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Lead Engineer will be responsible for the development and engineering of all LJ Star process optimization products. This highly skilled and innovative individual will own the whole product development lifecycle including specifications, design conceptualization, code and specification analysis, detailed engineering design, design for manufacturing & assembly, and design validation requirements. In addition, this engineer will have a passion for process optimization across biopharma, food and beverage, and general industrial fluid processes. The Lead Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and ensure designs meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and efficiency.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Create Customer-Centric Solutions: Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and operational teams to acquire customer requirements and translate them into designs that ensure proper performance and process efficiency.
- Design and develop process fluid components, starting with basic engineering analysis, model and print creation, sourcing, and final assembly and test.
- Select appropriate materials and processes considering performance, code and standards compliance, reliability, and cost.
- Proactively communicate with suppliers to optimize product design, quality, and performance at the target cost.
- Perform stack up tolerance analysis to ensure designs are suitable for fit, form & functional expectations
- Prepare and maintain BOMs within the current MRP system.
- Prepare and maintain drawings utilizing ASME drafting standards and GD&T application.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%)
Qualifications and Skills
Required
- BS, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college / university.
- 8+ years of appropriate fluid system engineering experience.
- Proficient with analytical and simulation tools.
- Statistics and Design of Experiments experience.
- Proficient with 3D CAD modeling and rapid prototyping.
- Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements related to process piping and bioprocessing systems.
- Proven track record of taking multiple products from concept to production.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in dynamic environments.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities to guide teams and collaborate both internally and externally.
Preferred
- Advanced Engineering degree or certification.
- Experience with electrical systems – LED lights and cameras.
- Mechanical aptitude in machining and disassembly/assembly procedures for repair.
- Demonstrated passion for fluid systems and processing applications.
- Experience with Trulinx / Tribute MRP systems.
